Ness of Burgi

Coastal walk in the very south of the mainland. Dramatic coastal views, an iron age fort and great views of Sumburgh head to the east

Parking:
There is a turning point at the end of the Scatness road. There is space for a few vehicles to park without obstructing the turning area.


Dog Walkers:
  • There are sometimes sheep
  • Steep cliffs


Terrain:
Mostly flat and grassy. Sometimes boggy. There is a rocky section which can often be slippy, but there are handrails.


Possible Routes:
From the end of the Scatness road walk south along the east coast until you reach the fort at the Ness of Burgi, then head back north along the west coast.
