Fethaland

Northern-most section of coastline on the mainland of Shetland. Remains of a once busy fishing station can be seen. Impressive cliff scenery and wildlife around Fethaland.

Safety:
Sea kayaking can be dangerous, this information is intended for experienced kayakers.
Please read the RNLI & Britsh Canoeing's kayaking safety advice before hitting the water.
Get a copy of The Northern Isles by Tom Smith & Chris Jex for more detailed information about specific routes and tidal info.
And please read our disclaimer before using any of the information on this site

Parking:
Parking is possible near the pier in Burra Voe or by the cemetery at Sand Voe.

Possible Routes:
Follow the coastline north, portage across the beaches between Fethaland and the Isle of Fethaland and then continue south to land at Sand Voe. Or vice versa.
I would not recommend kayaking to the Ramna stacks, conditions are rarely suitable. And be aware of the tide in Yell sound when heading along the coastline, it can be quite strong.
